Redeemer is a community of believers. What does this mean? We think it means, first of all, that while we’re undoubtedly far from perfect, we’re nevertheless supposed to be working together to become more like Jesus Christ. We believe that we can and should experience God’s grace of gradual transformation in our minds, hearts, and especially in our words and actions. Toward this goal the Redeemer family makes the weekly gathering time on Sunday mornings a very high priority.
While we value our Sunday together, we also realize that to truly experience genuine community will probably require something more. Thus, this is why we work to "do life" together through community service, in our individual homes and living rooms, and through some scheduled activities where our entire church body can come together for some great times and fun.
As an individual congregational, furthermore, we also recognize that we are a part of an invisible and universal body of believers. Thus, we see the value in joining hands with other brothers and sisters regardless of church affiliation, race, language differences or worship styles to bear witness to an underlying unity we share in the Gospel.
Redeemer Church sees itself commissioned with the Gospel. Yet our Gospel doesn’t stop with words. Rather, it reaches out to people before our words, in our words, and even after we’ve spoken our words as we seek to tangibly live out Christ’s love in our community. This is something we seek to do as a church in a number of practical ways—whether by serving the needs of the elderly and disabled of our community (REAL Services, tutoring elementary aged children (ExCEL), working with our local homeless shelter (Hope Ministries), or even simply hosting the citizens of our neighborhood as a polling place on election day.
